So Jules and I headed down to Wilson Promontory for a long weekend to celebrate 6 long old years of being together, how time flies. We rented a beach house about 25mins from the park entrance in Waratah Bay. The house was the perfect haven for the weekend, we spent most of our time chilling on the back deck, feeding the Kookaburras and Rosella’s. It was so peaceful. All you could hear were the crashing waves and birdsong (almost like a mediation track). When it got to cold, we retreated to the lounge room, and kept warm in-front of the roaring fire.
I was slightly apprehensive about the weekend, as I haven’t been able to walk far recently without the Cam Boot (for my fractured ankle). However, I managed to get a few small hikes in, of about 5km per day (to be honest I doubt Jules would have coped if we went much further!).
On the first day, we tested the Ankle on the Lilly Pilly Gully Track, which meandered through a eucalypti forest.
The second day, we did the Three Bays Walk, which I had previously done with Kerri. But the views were so magnificent I really wanted to share them with Jules. Needless, to say, we were blown away.
On the last day, we headed to Mt Oberon, which I hadn’t previously had the chance to experience. Needless to say, we were blown away by the magnificent 360 degree views of the park.
Four days of pure bliss.
