Yarra Valley Escape

So on Mum and Kevs last weekend in Melbourne we took a trip to the Yarra Valley, known for its breathtaking views and wine.

We headed off to South Melbourne Market early on the Saturday to stock up on food for the BBQ and headed out the city.

We stayed at Dalblair B&B, nestled down the end of quiet lane, opposite Seville Estate winery  and in the heart of the Yarra Valley. It had amazing views, overlooking the picturesque Warburton Ranges and surrounding farm land.

Donning my James Halliday (Australian Wine Guru) wine map, we made our way to his top winery, which was a short walk from where we where staying. Only to find on arrival (after a short detour) it was shut. Mum and Kev were not happy!

After that epic fail we climbed in the hire car and drove to Paynes Rise for some wine tasting, brought a few bottles and headed back to our humble abode for the evening.

We lit the BBQ, snuggled in on the outdoor seats with blankets, overlooking the Warbutron Ranges, drank wine, ate great food and chatted for hours (upon waking we realised this equated to 5 bottles – needless to say I had a sore head in the morning!).

A perfect way to end Mum and Kev’s trip.
